Why is ElectricSuper changing fund administrator?

In January, we advised our members that our existing partner Mercer has made a business decision to no longer provide superannuation administration services.

We are pleased to announce that we have appointed MUFG Retirement Solutions as our new administration partner.

Who are MUFG Retirement Solutions?

MUFG Retirement Solutions is widely recognised as a trusted leader in superannuation administration services. They help millions of Australians manage their retirement savings and work with some of Australia’s biggest funds. Their proven experience with both accumulation and defined benefit schemes and commitment to strong governance will bring benefits to our members and the fund.

When will the existing partnership with Mercer end?

We expect Mercer will withdraw fully as the administrator in late 2026, by which time we will be fully migrated to MUFG’s platform.

How will member services be affected by this change?

Please be assured that, in the transition period, there will be no reduction in the services you currently receive from Mercer.  Mercer will continue to provide Helpline and processing services (such as benefit and pension payments), during the transition period.

The Board and the Trustee Office team are working closely with MUFG to ensure a secure and smooth transition.

Will this transition to MUFG change the current role of the Board or the Trustee Office?

No, it only impacts the daily administration of the fund.

All current Board responsibilities (including fund governance and investment policy) are unaffected by the change of administrator.

The Trustee Office here in Adelaide (including Mel Muston as Chief Executive Officer, and Martin Dabrowski as Member Services Lead) will continue to ensure that members are provided with support and information during and after the transition.

What improvements can I expect with MUFG?

MUFG Retirement Solutions’ technology and scale may enable new features, enhanced security, and improved convenience for managing your super.  Further details will be shared with you as these become available.

Both the Board and the Trustee Office will also continue to monitor MUFG’s ongoing service to our members (as they currently do with Mercer).

Who can I contact to discuss what this means for me?

We will keep you regularly informed on any changes that may impact you during this process.  If you have any questions regarding our change of administration provider, please contact inquiries@electricsuper.com.au.
