Some transactions require you, or people signing on your behalf, to provide Proof of Identity. For example, you’ll need to provide proof of identity when you:

  • Ask us to search for lost super
  • Rollover to a self-managed super fund (SMSF)
  • Start a retirement income stream or commence a Lifetime Pension
  • Withdraw all or part of your benefit from the super system
  • Fully withdraw your income stream or commute a Lifetime Pension
  • Update your banking details
  • Change your name
  • Correct your date of birth
  • Set up a Power of Attorney or Guardianship to sign on behalf of an ElectricSuper member

We provide three options for providing proof of your identity (ID):

Option 1: Electronic ID by email, post or in person To use this option, write down the details of your ID on the relevant transaction form/s you’re sending us by either of email, post or in person. We’ll use the details you give us to do an electronic ID check.

This option is not available to use for Changing your name.

Option 2: Selfie ID by email To use this option, email us the relevant transaction form/s and electronic copies (scanned or clear photos) of your ID. Your ID does not need to be certified.
Option 3: Certified ID by post or in person To use this option, post or give us the transaction form/s with certified copies of your ID.

If you don’t have an Australian driver’s licence or Australian passport, you will need to use Option 3 and provide us with certified hard copies of proof of identity.

To find out more about who can certify documents, how they should be certified and the types of documents that can be used as proof of identity, read our Identification (ID) requirements flyer.
