ElectricSuper have been advised of break-ins to the Australia Post Melbourne GPO facility.
We have been advised that a number of GPO boxes at the Melbourne facility have been impacted, potentially including the post box GPO Box 4303 which ElectricSuper uses.
In response to this, enhanced security will be implemented by our administrator, Mercer, when they process transaction requests such as:
- Standard and lump sum cash withdrawals
- Departing Australia super payments (DASP)
- Rollover to SMSF accounts
- Pension payments
- Early release of super
- Changes to pension bank account and payment amounts
This enhanced security will include outbound calls to members for the purpose of verification of details and authenticity of their request.
We understand that Australia Post is working with the Australian Federal Police regarding this matter. We will provide further information regarding the potential compromise of ElectricSuper’s GPO Box, as and when it becomes available.
